The 184 km Kasomeno-Mwenda Toll Road and Border Post Project
was conceptualised with the following objectives:
- To create a viable and world-class alternative transport route and border crossing between DRC and Zambia, thereby alleviating the existing congestion at the Kasumbalesa border post.
- To improve connectivity between the Haut-Katanga and neighbouring DRC provinces with the port of Dar es Salaam through a faster and shorter route.
- To create a new road capable of meeting the increasing regional trade and economic activity between the Haut-Katanga Province in the DRC and the Luapula Province in Zambia.
- Provide technical advisory services to the lender in regards to pavement and materials review for the project.
- Conduct technical and traffic due diligence work to ensure the project reaches Financial Close (FC) and provide ongoing project monitoring services to ensure the project achieves Commercial Operation Date (COD).
